Often there's just not enough clearance to enable your iPad charger / dock connector to be inserted if you use a leather case, quality protective skin bumper or battery case.
This 30 pin male to female connector gives you an extra 20mm allowing just about any charging cable or sync cradle to be used while your iPod remains in it's cover.
